PMS AG Photo Mess Systeme

Metric Cameras For Photogrammetry

PMS AG offers the right metric camera for almost all applications. The lenses of digital cameras are typically calibrated on 2 positions.
All analogue cameras have an built in high precision réseau grid plate, the base requirement for precise measurements. All lenses of analogue cameras are calibrated in 2 or more focusing stops.

Digital Metric Cameras

In ELCOVISION 10 digital photos can be used. It makes no difference, whether the photos are scanned or are taken directly as digital images. All known digital-image formats can be used. Digital images have very low deformations; a réseau grid plate for compensation of film or paper deformations is not necessary. For the definition of a photo coordinate system the four photo corners are sufficient. This means: Digital camera do not need to be modified, but can be calibrated and used for measurement as they are.

Amateur (non-metric) cameras

Up to now normal (amateur or non-metric) photo-cameras were not suitable for high-accuracy photogrammetric applications. Since film negatives can be scanned with high resolution, and are stored on photo-CD, it makes sense to calibrate normal photo-cameras in order to use them for survey applications. Usually, 35mm film negatives are not deformed very much, so that scanned images can be measured with reasonable accuracy. But the user should keep in mind that only medium-accuracy evaluations are possible with calibrated amateur cameras.

The following cameras are not produced any more and are not available therefore any longer. However we archive here their data sheets, so that you can compare these data with the current cameras.
